Jeff Bender is a fiction and comedy writer from Philadelphia.
His fiction has appeared in Fence, Electric Literature, The Iowa Review, and Guernica, and his comedy has appeared in McSweeney’s, The Hard Times, Points in Case, Electric Literature, and a lot of other places. He’s a Senior Writer at Sports Riot.
He’s the winner of Hugo House’s New Works Competition and an Artist Trust grant. Residencies include Jentel Artist Residency (Banner, Wyo.), The Edward F. Albee Foundation (Montauk, N.Y.), the Norman Mailer Center (Provincetown, Mass.), Seattle Arts & Lectures, and Columbia’s School of the Arts, where he got his MFA.
His screenplay ‘Archery,’ co-written with David Englander, won honors from the Austin Film Festival, The Rhode Island International Film Festival, and the PAGE International Screenplay Awards.
He lives outside Philadelphia with his wife and kids.
