Jeff Bender’s fiction has appeared in Fence, Electric Literature, The Iowa Review, Guernica, and The Offing, and his comedy has appeared in McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, The Hard Times, Points in Case, Slackjaw, and a lot of other places.

His short story “The Guard” won Hugo House’s New Works Competition and an Artist Trust grant, and he’s held residencies at Columbia University, Seattle Arts & Lectures, the Edward F. Albee Foundation, the Norman Mailer Center, and Jentel Artist Residency. He has an MFA in fiction from Columbia University and a BA from Davidson College in North Carolina.

He teaches at Hugo House and Ursinus College and is a staff writer for Sports Riot.

He’s currently working on a novel about athletes called MEATHEADS.
